So today Gladys Boss Shollei and Gladys Wanga are battling it out on the PunchLine on K24TV as from 9PM. Sometimes I look at these women and I feel sad. I feel sad because they completely do not represent the aspirations of the poor hoi polloi they claim to represent. Their agitation is totally far withdrawn from the real issues on the ground. They have forgotten what issues they should be advancing and now it is more of sycophancy and politics of tumbocracy.
Boss Shollei for instance tells us and disagrees with Punguza mzigo by claiming that women are not ‘Mzigo’ as she purports that PunguzaMzigo eliminates the positions of women rep. A COMPLETE WHITE LIE and to be told by a woman of her stature a Lawyer and a parliamentarian (she was the administrative at the Judiciary) is utterly disgusting and outright loss of self in the politics of Tumbocracy. She has read the Punguza mzigo Bill and she needs to tell KENYANS the truth. Punguza mzigo does not reduce number of women reps. They remain 47. Instead Punguza mzigo adds another 47 men and it now is 47 men and 47 women elected to Parliament. Why can’t she just tell KENYANS this TRUTH. Why twist to satisfy her loud mouth? This is a 50/50 representation right here. This is the reality that she is conveniently avoiding and manufacturing lies to tell his gullible electorates in Uasin Gishu. She has gone further to propose additional seats for to raise the number of MPs to over 500. With how MPs misbehave why do we need 500 people in Parliament? Even the current parliament has completely forgotten it’s core mandate of oversighting the Executive and now they have become sycophants of the executive. This is just sick and sad.
Gladys Wanga has proposed an expanded Executive with a Prime Minister and deputy Prime Ministers. This is conveniently packaged as a solution from a perennial wars we see after elections. But surely, Let us be honest. What is the use of an election, if both The winner and the loser will be running the government? This is a choreographed situation that KENYANS needs to interrogate before even thinking of passing it. The proposals of Wanga and her party might in the long trample on democracy. The situation that we SHOULD have addressed is ELECTORAL REFORMS. A reform in a manner that we have a robust system of voting where outcomes are acceptable to all candidates. That is what we need. We need losers in elections to accept the results and move on. That can only happen if our electoral system is strong and dependable. But we are busy fixing irrelevant issues.
The kind of proposals being advanced by Wanga and her team will eliminate active opposition politics just like the handshake made sure of that. From there it will be a freefall. Kitaibwo mbaya Sana and their won’t be any opposition to keep the government in check. I never knew I will agree with William Ruto but this time round, Niko Naye mbaya. I support his proposals of instead losers joining government to eat, they should be empowered and form official leader of the Opposition. This position should be entrenched in the constitution to ensure that the person who heads official leader of the Opposition receives full government benefits and salary. That way he will be empowered to keep the government in check.
Mbona watu wanafikiria na Matumbo yao Lakini?
Hii Kenya Jameni wenzangu….anyway…we meet at 9pm to listen to both ladies defend their bona-fide procured positions.
