Lawyer Donald Kipkorir is known for his sober approach in commenting on trending matters, he is fearless in articulating that which he believes is righT. Yesterday after the LSK Annual General Meeting aborted for the second time this year, the top lawyer took to social media castigating the’Okoa LSK’ members- little did he know he was stepping on thorns as lawyers TURNED against him with clear facts>>
First here is Donald’s post
What you did today at Bomas of Kenya to disrupt the LSK AGM, may look an heroic act in the fleeting of time, but it ain’t. Your strategy against the Law Society is nihilist, recidivist and selfish. Just because you may want change doesn’t mean you pull down the pillars of the temple. The legal profession globally is premised on professional etiquette and rule of precedent. If you cannot respect the views of the silent majority, why should we trust you? Just because you may shout the loudest doesn’t mean you have the way. In a market place, a mad man owns the stage. History always teaches us that those that are impatient in getting leadership and upend established tradition will only last but fleetingly. Stolen power is ephemeral. Grab LSK power if you may, but you will be destroying your own careers along our hallowed society.
Now SAMPLE the comments that followed>>
Jacqueline Manani:>> Donald B. Kipkorir, I didn’t see you at the meeting but if you were there then you are misrepresenting facts. No one caused a disruption of the meeting. In fact the last person to request the chairman for a vote was Prof. P.L.O Lumumba. Is our senior Prof. Lumumba a member of OkoaLsk? The chairman refused to listen even to Prof. Lumumba and adjourned the meeting. The meeting was not disrupted. Get your facts right.
Jacqueline Manani:> In fact I’m shocked that you, Donald B. Kipkorir, support the action of the chairman of failing to respect the regulations. Anyway, I’m not surprised. You are a systems man who benefits from council appointments to committees like the committee on Election Regulations where you did a pathetically shoddy job. Shame!
Benjamin Arap Kipkelwon: Ask yourself why that happened. Why don’t you want to see that the council has deliberately chosen to ignore members’ voice. You are supportive of the status quo for whatever selfish gains/interests.
Samuel Nyambu:> In a democratic environment, that meeting should have been smooth to conduct. Unfortunately, disrepect, anger and a premeditated plan f action seems to have put the meeting in disarray.
Chaloh Wammz:> Donald i guess you did not understand the proceedings at the meeting if you were there. But we know which side butters your bread.
Jesse G Njogu: I Have Just Watched An Ugly Exchange Between Kanjama And Sifuna On NTV And In Matters Pertaining Calmness,Agitation And Insults,I Concur With Kanjama But In Matters Concerning Running Of LSK, I Concur With Sifuna- #okoaLSK #mythinking.
Kimani Muhoro>> Donald B. Kipkorir, you are dead wrong and definitely on the wrong side of history on this..
Olé Laibuta: Counsel, I guess in your view it is okay for the Chairperson to refuse to put a motion to a vote and refuse to listen to the nays?
Alex Gatundu:>> Donald B. Kipkorir, unlike you I deal with facts fearlessly. Now those men in black you see below there were hired n commissioned to cause chaos. We got intelligence report on them n we decided we will restrain ourselves to the utmost not to give your friends execuse to revert to atavistic Hobbesian jungle. U saw a fellar try to provoke Sifuna but he didn’t bulge. Now ps tell your friends to pay these MIB who here r caught demanding their payments before action. I guess they knew they cant get paid after action.
Kwayera Ozzy Lijoodi If you weren’t in the hall there is no need for one to update half truth here , bottom line ; change is coming .
Edwin S:>> There is nothing like a silent majority.
Cliff Koome Purloining of resources shouldn’t be accepted in any society. I think the ‘accept and move on’ phrase is fast becoming intolerable.
Peter Macharia:>>My friend Donald B. Kipkorir here you are way off the mark. To begin with I am sorry you don’t understand OkoaLsk. In my understanding OkoaLsk is anyone including yourself who want good for the LSK. For those of us who were present at the meeting from the beginning to the end we can tell you that through consensus and mature debate the AGM had resolved the question of appointments to key statutory committees for the simple reason that the chair admitted that there was a mistake and he allowed members to discuss and offer workable solutions. Problem came when the chair wanted to have his way in getting members pass books of accounts that obviously had glaring issues on how members money had been spent. Of course, lawyers are not fools to be taken up the garden path and this is when your friend the chair, refused to reason with the members and called off the meeting. Yes, there were heated moments in the meeting but they could not be attributed to any predetermined school of thought.
John Kimathi M:> Donald B. Kipkorir on this one you are completely off the mark.some of us harbor no political interests of grabbing the so called power, but we can’t fathom a council that is so opaque and thinks we are fools to just say yes in the name of protecting etiquette.which is the lesser evil between protecting etiquette/decorum and fighting blatant theft?
Delenburg Van Bose Armchair commentator and peddler of half truths. Kindly get the facts right by simply studying or tracing and appreciating the genesis of LSK woes. The society will out live us all but we “The members” can and shall debate on its future. Thanks for your unsolicited and obviously uniformed opinion but we “the members” have this. So calm yourself pursue your profession (whatever it is)
Nyawinda Dickson In my life I have seen three kinds of people, the likes in OkoaLsk who make things happen. Those who just stand by watching the Council of the law society tearing a noble society down, see or hear no evil And those who have no idea what’s been happening. They neither know of AIC nor of the pRESIDENTS “lack of information on which members are LSK representatives in which corporate body and they have never attended any AGM but they think they have good advice for OkoaLsk. People really why are you responding to this group. They now want to abuse, call you names yet they have never uttered even those peaceful words to Mutua and his group. Where have they come from we go??? Call a spade a spade not a huge spoon. The Council is bad and should be sacked period. We are not the pastor or mama or baba to bembeleza them.
Janet Gazemba Did the media show the part where members took a moment of silence for the departed members? All I’m saying to those jumping to conclusion by relying on media reports is, please ask for the full clip…..that is if you are interested in who and where things started going South
Karol Khasoa>> If one does not have facts it is a crime to even pupport to comment. Accountability and transparency are non negotiable. Both in council and outside. VOTING would have determined the matter. Donald why dint we tek a vote. Im embrassed and humiliated by my own society in my own society Agm and you call that ettiquette ? You must be joking!!!!!
Valeh Achungo I regret having voted for these fools! What was so difficult in allowing people to vote! The Council seems to be benefiting the chosen few…. some fellows who in my view have access to the “cookie jar! ”
Ike Kenneth But Barrister Donald B. Kipkorir the incident had nothing to do with #OkoaKenya
