Respected  editor and columnist Kwamchetsi Makhoha has weighed in on the media ‘scandal’ raised by former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.
Mr Musyoka, while responding to a journalist yesterday, declined to comment citing the journalist’s perceived ethno-political  inclination.
Mr Makhoha took issue with with the manner the journalist in question framed his question, first as an opinion, then, building on his opinion, which sounded more like a jubilee legislator’s punchline, asked Kalonzo to comment.
Makhoha says journalists should stick to the questions, not wanting politicians to comment on their opinions.
“Kalonzo Musyoka should not have retorted as he did to the NMG journalist’s ‘question’ but as a trainer of journalists of some years experience, I cannot repeat enough that journalists must ask questions and not offer suggestions or opinions at media conferences. The space reserved for opinions, comments and suggestions is in the op-ed spaces. For the avoidance of doubt, questions tend to fit in a short sentence, start with one of these words, ‘Who’, ‘What’/’Which’, ‘When’,’Where’, ‘Why’ and ‘How’ (also known as the 6Ws for the initiated), and end in a question mark…” posted Makhoha.
Supporting Kwamchesti, another Kenyan, Muthui Saiti, termed as ‘hypocrisy’, the outrage of a section of kenyans to the politician’s comments. Here’s his elaborate comment on Facebook:
I am not Kalonzo fan, but honestly, those who are angry are you angry because he said the truth or he is tribalist?…..The Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime relies and depends on his tribesmen, all apopintments and propagandists and apologists are either his tribesmen or affiliated. If you criticize Uhuru for his mediocrity and evil regime who are liklely to hang you?..Kenyans? Why are we pretending that his is NOT the mother of all “the Tyranny of Tribalism”
Once you identify with tribalism its hard to see any other way, everything one sees is tribalism. The fact has been demonstrated that most Kikuyus wand and need to believe in the hegemony and part of them suspect that might not be true, they work very hard to quieten that inner voice of doubt and they always find it very upseeting when someone says out loudly what they are trying so hard not to hear.
Psychologically those who are so angry I believe are seeing their futility and evils of their oen tribalism in others and the only way they falsely think they can correct it is by destroying anyone who reminds them of their tribalism. They think they minimize their own tribal sins and compensate for doing so by exaggerating the faults of others. Look at how Kalonzo’s comments, even by implication of his comments have helped the REAL tribalists to infalte the situation much worse by artificially intensifying the sense of evil and trying to increase the propensity to feel guilt even for a comments which are in themselves a true reflection of the situation.
I think most Kenyans(TRIBALISTS) have build up such an obsession with TRIBALISM, both in themselves and in others, that they waste all their mental energy trying to account for their tribalism, pretending to want to punish it, to exorcise it or get rid of it in any way they can. They drive themselves mad with their preoccupation and in the end there is no outlet left but violence. They have to destroy somethimng or someone. They have created for themselves a suitable enemy, a scpaegoat in whom they have invested all the evil in the world. he is the cause of all the tribalism we are subjected to in Kenya…in this case Kalonto Musyoka. He is the fomentor of all tribal conflicts. If he can opnly be destroyed, tribal conflicts in Kenya will cease, tribal evils will be done with..there will be no more TRIBAL conflicts let alone the TYRANNY OF TRIBALISM” and of course Uhuru will never be called tribal chief nor his Jubilees’ poor mediocrity be questioned.
Tribalists, stop this hypocritical condemnation which you are trying to do with god-like disdain while forgiving or condoning the real tribalism and forgiving it with god-like condescension.
Instead of loving what you have been misled to believe is your tribal hegemony, and hating the people you think are tribalists, hate the tribal appetites and the tribal disorders in your own souls, which are the causes of tribalism in Kenya. If you love a unitary nation of Kenya, then hate TRIBALISM in all forms, the tribal hypocrisy being displayed in condemning a statement that implies what we are..tribalists…hate the tyranny of tribalism, hate tribal greed, hate tribal subjugation, hate tribal chiefs, hate tribal demigodism..BUT
HATE THESE THINGS IN YOURSELVES NOT IN ANOTHER!
