Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka announces Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo is dead.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka announced the shocking news during a burial in Tseikuru in Mwingi North Constituency on Saturday afternoon.
Police have also confirmed the news saying Mutula was found dead Saturday afternoon in his room.
Workers were curious after he failed to wake up upto 1pm and were forced to break the door where they found his body lying on bed.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi says they are yet to know the cause of death and thorough probe will be conducted inclusing a postmortem.
â€œWe have been informed of the death and all resources have been mobilised to know the causeâ€, said Kaindi.
Workers told police Mutula retired to bed late Friday night and was in high spirits
Mutula was born in 1948- aged 64, he was Educated at Mbooni Primary School and Machakos High School before joining University of Dar es Salaam in 1969 graduating with a First Class Honorsâ€™ Degree in Law â€” the first in the East African region.
In the National Assembly of Kenya in the December 2007 parliamentary election. He was Minister for Nairobi Metropolitan Development until being appointed as Minister of Justice and constitutional affairs on 4 May 2009.
He previously served as private attorney to now retired President Moi.
