ODM Deputy Party Leader and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has said close to 50 Jubilee MPs are biding their time before they decamp to ODM even as Jubilee parades a few defectors from CORD.
Jubilee is set to lose several MPs in Maasailand, Coast, Western, Northern Kenya and Nairobi.
Already, Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has dismissed claims he has defected, saying he only hosted President Uhuru in Kwale. Ford Kenya’s Senator John Munyes (Turkana) and Wiper’s Hussein Dado, the Tana River governor, are some of Jubilee’s new signees.
During the Party’s saturday launch, two ODM MPs Ababu Namwamba and John Weluke are expected to attend with Ababu expected to address the gathering.
Apart from Ababu, no high profile defection from ODM has occurred. Karachuonyo MP James Rege announced his defection in a low key event attended by Mzee Nyandiga who was recently expelled from Luo Council of Elders. Jubilee is said to have rented Nyandiga a house in Mathare North Estate.
Governor Joho is confident ODM is ready for Jubilee in the next polls.
The ODM Deputy Party Leader was addressing the press in Mombasa to brief them on the ongoing preparations for ODM’s weekend celebrations in the coastal city.
