This not only comes as a blessing to the ever serious guy but also as a relief to him after what he has been undergoing at KTN. Frank joined KTN in 2007 and you can’t believe what Munira Muhamad said to him! She looked at him, sized him up and asked him “Where Do You Hail From?”
Otieno answered “Siaya”. That put her into some silly spin prompting her to just comment: “Since when Luos spoke in Swahili?” That was when the dye had been cast. Otieno walked out of the office and was almost getting out of I&M when someone (a senior in KTN) who had seen him report that morning PUMBED into him and asked where had he been assigned to.
He told Him the whole story. He asked him to go back to the office and the matter was handled to the dismay of that lady. Things have never been so fair for Otieno who the three ladies namely –Munira Muhamad, Ann Ngugi and Isabellah Kituri — who feel threatened by his sudden admiration from the new head Joe Ageyo want him not only sacked but have been making the environment difficult for him.
Ageyo recently appointed Otieno to oversee how political reporting will be coordinated but you can’t believe to what level the three ladies have gone to ensure Otieno sinks! They have gone to some level to turn Otieno into an intern who goes to the field and brings a story that is then assigned to one of them to voice.
This has been going on in the past few weeks after Otieno was given such a responsibility through meritocracy but the ladies feel it’s tribal. The mediocrity has gone to some level prompting Otieno to write a letter of resignation that actually the PRO rejected owing to the fact that she maybe knowing what is happening or he is a jewelry.
The Swahili guru will soon be starting a show on QTV that he will be hosting, starting with the current political on goings in the country. This therefore means that KTN loses the brilliant education reporter who has turned to an all round journalist, capable of handling any assignment, be it sports, politics, war ( he covered KDF in Somalia- both in English and Swahili), live broadcast. Sources reveal that NMG is keen in paying him a handsome package in his new office.
He confided this information after getting two three four for the road and he is yet to hold a meeting with some senior lady at NMG who has been yearning for his attention for the past two weeks.
