While Hon. Ababu Namwamba can now relax in his seat and await another battle, an ODM MP may find the going rough after defying ODM Party leader Raila Odinga who sent a stern warning to ODM MPs to ‘save’ Ababu from ejection from PAC chair by the Jubilee Alliance.
Omondi Anyanga, the Nyatike legislator refused to follow clear instructions from ODM boss and voted with a dozen Jubilee MPs to remove Ababu. However, they 13 legislators failed to marshall the requisite numbers to eject Ababu.
Two other ODM MPs who had signed the bid to oust Namwamba withdrew from the petition and boycotted the vote. Andrew Mwadime abstained from voting while Abbas Mohammed did not turn up.
ODM MPs John Mbadi, Junet Mohammed, Alice Nyanchoka, Manson Nyamweya, Charles Geni, Silvance Osele were joined by Jessica Mbalu (Wiper), Sakwa Bunyasi (UDF) and Katatha Maweu (Independent) to vote Namwamba to stay as PAC Chair.
In a party that punishes disloyalty instantly, Omondi will have a lot to show cause why he should not be throughly punished.
