ODM PARTY LEADER Raila Odinga Receives More Kisii defectors from Jubilee as the Gussi Community Reaffirms support for Raila’s 2017 presidential bid in an event dubbed “Omogusii Declaration”!
As members of the Omogusii community living in Nairobi County, we appreciate the cordial reception and recognition our party leader has accorded us.
We have had the seat of National Treasurer since the inception of the party in 2005.
We have also as a community held the position of Executive Director of our party ODM under now nominated Senator Hon Janet Ong’era.
The Omogusii community in Nairobi supports the Okoa Kenya initiative which is aimed at strengthening the constitution and protecting devolution which is at the heart of every Kenyan.
We also support fully the Rt Hon Raila Odinga bid for the presidency in 2017 election. We have always given him our support and which we reaffirm here today until he achieves his dream of becoming president.
We shall work tirelessly and involve ourselves in massive voter and Identity Cards registration exercise in all parts of Nairobi and other parts of the county to have a strong support base with the aim of winning state power.
We are disturbed by the runaway insecurity in Kenya. As Omogusii we have borne the brunt of insecurity as we have lost more than 20 members of the Gusii community to terrorism the latest being the Garissa University attack. In that attack we lost 17 young men and women who were studying in Garissa for a better tomorrow. The way things are today no one is safe. Women and children continue to be butchered left right and centre as the government watches.
We are tired. We are telling the Jubilee administration we want our country back. Fix the country’s security and safeguard the lives of Kenyans.
We are aware of the high rate of unemployment among the youth in the country. We know Jubilee Government promised a million jobs every year but what we see is a million unemployed youths each year.
Jubilee has deliberately killed the productive sectors of economy like, tea, coffee and pyrethrum to deny the youths employment. We shall work hard to deliver the reign of this country to the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga to fix this problem and give opportunities to the youth.
We urge the government to reflect on the provisions in the constitution with regards to one third Gender Rule. We state categorically that we shall not allow the Jubilee to use their tyranny of numbers of numbers in parliament to deny Kenyan woman her constitutional right. Jubilee must respect Kenyan women.
We resolve to join other progressive forces and strengthen, rejuvenate and reenergize our party ODM and prepare for 2017 as we march to state house.
Yes Omogusii TUKO TAYARI.
