Mombasa County Governor Hassan Ali Joho and Senator Hassan Omar on Wednesday left the country for the United States where they are scheduled to meet various investors keen on partnering with the tourist destination county to spur growth on various sectors.
Joho’s team will today meet Rt Hon Raila Odinga currently a student at Boston University. The meeting with the CORD leader happens amidst an ongoing government crackdown on terrorists which key muslim and somali leaders have decried as discriminatory.
On his Facebook page, Senator Omar (Wiper) revealed they will meet the opposition leader to discuss the ongoing security issue. During the week, Raila informed a gathering of Kenyans in Atlanta that he is in the USA as a goodwill ambassador of the country.
“At Reagan National Airport headed for Boston to meet CORD leader Rt. Hon Raila Odinga before proceeding to Seattle tomorrow. CORD leader is particularly interested in a discussion with Mombasa’s leadership on the State of security and the ongoing operations in Eastleigh. CORD has stated it’s position on the indiscriminate nature of the operations,” posted Omar.
