Fred Rabongo redefects to ODM
By Phil Wesonga
Former NSSF Managing Trustee and Homabay senatorial aspirant Fred Rabongo has rejoined ODM after defecting to the National Alliance Party of Kenya (NAP-K) last month.
Rabongo who has been a long time ODM member since its formation in 2005 and a key presidential campaign financier joined little known NAP-K after the ODM nomination exercise was disrupted by hired goons. Rabongo contested in the February by-election an came a distant third after ODM’s Moses Kajwang’s and Jubilee’s Philip Okundi, a former ODM elections board chair.
Rabongo met with the ODM party leader Raila Odinga at his private office in Upperhill in the company of a mutual friend, Erastus Okul where they had a two hour chat sharing their experiences of the campaign and discussing ways of strengthening the party network in Homabay.
Rabongo is the only aspirant who has since congratulated the new Homabay senator Moses Kajwang and has pledged to work with him and the county leadership to uplift the lives of the people of Homabay. This was his facebook post after IEBC declared Kajwang the winner.
“Morning Ladies and Gentlemen of my precious county of Homa Bay.
You have spoken through your vote and may I take this opportunity to congratulate my worthy opponents especially Senator Elect Moses Otieno Kajwang for winning this race
To my supporters thank you for having confidence and trust in me and my policies……
The fact that I was not elected will not deter me from doing what I have been doing for my county kaka Wuod County…
Thank you all for embracing peace and harmony through out the voting process
Raila has reportedly welcomed Rabongo’s move to rejoin ODM.
