Former Cabinet Minister Arthur Magugu dies at his Nairobi home

Former Cabinet Minister Arthur Magugu died at his Nairobi home today minutes before noon, he has been  ailing for sometime.

Family sources told this reporter that the late minister suffered a stroke and went into a coma for a long time and had sought medical attention at various places.

Hon Magugu represented Githunguri constituency of Kiambu County from 1969 to 1988. He served as Finance Minister from 1982 to 1988.

At the of age 35, Magugu sent political shock waves throughout the country when he ousted veteran politician, the late Waira Kamau.In his 1969 debut in parliamentary politics, Magugu garnered 5,136 votes against Waira Kamau’s 4,380.

Magugu, will be remembered by his trade mark dusty leather jacket and red Kanu shirt back in the days of KANU.
