Kenya Airways (KQ) has appointed Mbuvi Ngunze as the new Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.
In a press statement sent to the news room and signed by KQ chairman, Ngunza, who has been until his appointment the Group chief operation officer, will take over from the outgoing Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Titus Naikuni as at November 30 2014.
In January KQ Board of Directors engaged the services of an international Executive Search firm, Spencer Stuart Ltd, to assist the Board in identifying a successor to Naikuni as Group Managing Director & CEO. According to KQ chairman Evanson Mwaniki, the Board reached a unanimous decision to appoint Mbuvi to steer the national carrier into greater heights of development.
â€œAs such, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mbuvi Ngunze, who is the current Chief Operating Officer in KQ to the role of Group Managing Director & CEO of Kenya Airways Ltd., with effect from 1â€œ December 2014,â€ Mwaniki said.
He said the Board will support Ngunze in his position in leading the KQ team in running the company business. In the meantime the Board has also initiated the process of recruiting COO in the shortest possible time.
