CORD leader Raila Odinga’s son Fidel has broken his silence over claims he is planning to run for the Kibra parliamentary seat.
In an exclusive interview with local media, Fidel called on the public to let MP Ken Okoth complete his term.
“The Kibra MP is doing a good job and the people there respect him,†Fidel said on the phone.
“There is no need to start campaigning in Kibra now but 2017 is a different story.â€
Fidel said he is not fighting Okoth and cautioned “interested parties†against putting the people of Kibra in an election mood.
Raila represented the larger Lang’ata constituency as MP from 1992 to 2013.
The constituency is now divided into Lang’ata, represented by John Olum, and Kibra, by Okoth.
Former head of Raila’s presidential campaign secretariat, Eliud Owalo, has also declared interest in the Kibra seat with already his boots on the ground.
