As at close of yesterday’s deadline for submission of forthcoming ODM polls forms, the shape of the party leadership begun to show up with political household names widely expected to assume party leadership.
Current party leader Raila Odinga will be defending his seat which has attracted Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati and Uasin Gishu ODM Chairman David Songok Lang’at.
The post of Secretary General will now see MPs Ababu Namwamba fighting it out with nominated senators Dr Agnes Zani and Elizabeth Ongoro. Prof Larry Gumbe and Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi will battle for the Deputy Secretary General’s position.
Chairmanship which has been held by long serving Tindiret MP and former minister Henry Kosgey will see Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok duel it out with MPs Mpuri Aburi (Tigania East), Paul Otuoma (Funyula) and Manson Nyamweya (South Mugirango).
Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero will fight it out with senators Otieno Kajwang’ (Homa Bay), Janet Ong’era (nominated) and Eldas MP Adan Keynan for the position of vice chairman.
MPs Simon Ogari (Bomachoge Chache) and Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba) and party member Ibrahim Mohamed are gunning for the treasurer’s slot. Kakamega Woman Representative Rachael Ameso and delegates Steve Ringera and Rahab Robi are seeking the deputy treasurer’s post.
Nairobi political protagonists George Aladwa and Reuben Ndolo will once again renew their rivalry when they square it out for the position of organising secretary. Others in the race for the post are MPs Abdikadir Aden (Mbalambala), Irshad Sumra (Embakasi South MP) and Gitonga Wathanga.
