MASS of HUMANITY turn up for Fidel Odinga FUNERAL in Bondo

MASS of HUMANITY turn up for Fidel Odinga FUNERAL in Bondo

January 10, 2015

Thousands of mourners Saturday morning streamed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University in Bondo for the funeral service of Fidel Odinga.

Fidel will be buried next to his grandfather Jaramogi Oginga Odinga at the family graveyard, about 10km from his father’s Opoda farm. Political leaders from all parts of the country arrived to show their last respects to the fallen son of former PM Raila Odinga.

The funeral service was presided over by Bishop Macarios of the Greek Orthodox Church, in which Fidel and his widow Lwam Bekele belonged. A number of speeches from family, friend and politicians are also lined up.

Security is high notch in the venue and in the larger Bondo area to ensure safety of all the attendants. Police at the venue had a hard time controlling the crowd which occasionally got rowdy.

Fidel’s body arrived in Kisumu Friday aboard a military chopper and later transported to Kenyatta Sports grounds where a public viewing session was held. It was later taken to his home for an overnight stay awaiting today’s final burial rites.
