Ever Rising: Media houses send SENIOR JOURNALISTS to cover Raila Odinga China trip

Several leading media houses have sent journalists to cover the 10-day trip to China by CORD leader Raila Odinga who is leading a delegation of six county governments to scout for various investment opportunities for Kenyan counties.

Nation Media Group sent senior political reporter Ouko Okusah who already filed a report of the progress of the trip (watch video below) and sources within standard, group and citizen TV indicate the two leading press firms have also assigned reporters to Beijing.

Odinga, who is widely expected to make another stab at the presidency in 2017 is said to be more concerned about the success of counties where he believes the country’s next 50 years will better be judged on. Governors Wycliffe Oparanya of Kakakmega, John Nyangarama of Nyamira, Cornell Rasanga of Siaya as well as Deputy Governors of three northern Kenya counties are accompanying Odinga.

Also in the entourage is former campaign aide and management consultant Eliud Owalo.

Odinga has met several Chinese conglomerates in a bid to woo them to invest in the country in agriculture, mining, tourism, health and education sectors. He also endorsed Kenya as tourist destination, saying security has markedly improved. The former Prime Minister was received by the Kenyan Embassy officials in Beijing led by  the Economic Counsellor Mr. David Kabiru and Second Counsellor John Odipo.
