A frightened Egerton University student who posted he will blow up the institution has been arrested.
Robert Mungai was arrested at a petrol station in Nakuru’s industrial area and has been handed over to anti-terrorism detectives for questioning.
However, students close to Mungai, who changed his name to Robert Mohammed Bluez, said he may have been bluffing and has no capacity to carry the attack.
“I doubt if he has even set his eyes on an explosive. He is a serious coward and must have been enjoying the fame that come with pranks, too bad he is in trouble now,” said a classmate who requested anonymity.
Police had placed a Sh2 million prize on Mungai after he went into hiding following the posting of the threatening messages on the Internet.
The 21-year-old Mungai who was born and raised at Nakuru’s Bondeni estate completed his secondary education in 2012 before joining the university.
