At Independence Day celebrations in the Uganda town of Gulu, Deputy President William Ruto endorsed Uganda President Yoweri Museveni, who will next year celebrate 30 years in power, to run for another time. However, he was heckled by Ugandans who did not take lightly his disdainful comments on that country’s opposition politicians.
The Deputy President, in endorsing President Yoweri Museveni, revealed to those who attended the Uganda Independence Day Celebrations that key opposition  aspirants visited Kenya but instead of meeting with government officials met with Kenya’s opposition losers.
The Deputy President then referred to them as jokers, a comment which did not go down well with the public which murmured as he continued with his speech.
Uganda’s veteran opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye, immediate former Prime Minister Amama Mbazazi and others earlier this week visited Nairobi to meet with CORD leader Raila Odinga.
The Deputy President was the senior foreign government official to attend the occasion.
