Isn’t the total shut down of what is to be Africa’s financial capital a cause for concern to you?
Does it not indict the very premise on which Obama tour is based? That we here are an entrepreneurial country?
Should we then pose and ask whether building another railway line rather than building a 21st century metro transit system in Nairobi, complete with subways, electric trains, cable cars etc should be our priority?
What does it mean to us to see Nairobi -the whole city -literally deserted, with people who would otherwise have continued in the productive economic endeavours fleeing the capital for other towns or returning to their villages?
Shouldn’t Nairobi be this city – like New York or Washington DC – where world rulers land and take off at one corner while other corners continue to power our economy?
What kind of country is our so called ‘entrepreneurship’ building? In the country Obama comes from; entrepreneurs build technology cities where today’s ideas are turned into tomorrow’s products – ideas on technology, hydropower, health, education, seafare, warfare, music, leisure, diplomacy and spacecraft. Is this our form of entrepreneurship?
To all of you who will be seated back in your homes, glued on TV watching Obama because you couldn’t get to your workplace, the joke is on you.
You all should join me in asking the folks who will be at Gigiri how it sits with their conscience knowing that their entrepreneurship activities continue to make Nairobi a city which cannot host Obama and the rest of us at the same, so that it is us to give way, by fleeing or getting into ‘induced holiday’.
To the entrepreneurs who will sit at home with their children, I dedicate the above questions to. ‪#‎ikoshida‬ ‪#‎ObamaIsComing‬!
