President Obama is highly likely to visit Moi University. This ‘good news’ comes days after the institution indicated it will absorb all Garissa University students who survived the deadly terrorist attack.
President Obama, now in Jamaica, is expected to spend at least two days in Kenya for a business meeting at UN Headquarters complex in Gigiri, Nairobi, and also hold a bilateral meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.
Tourism CS Phyllis Kandie visited Mama Sarah Obama, the President’s step mother at Kogelo earlier in the week though it is not yet confirmed whether Obama will visit Nyanza.
Migori’s Suna East MP Junet Mohammed said the visit of Obama in Kenya will be incomplete if he doesn’t visit Nyanza.
While not official, the visit to the institution will be part of US Presidents’ age old practice of making impromptu and unscheduled stopovers to places of significance in countries they visit. In Jamaica, President Obama yesterday visited the Bob Marley museam, as a show of respect to the legendary Reggae musician.
