Holy Mary!

Several villages in Mt. Kenya and Easten regions are counting massive human losses after a toxic concoction left a trail of bodies behind it. To be specific, the brew has so far killed 56 people with 70 others hospitalised, many blinded out of this world.

The deaths are spread across  Embu, Kiambu, Kitui, Makueni and Murang’a counties, with Embu having the lion’s share of 25 dead . Over 40 survivors are admitted in Embu Level Five Hospital.

In Kitui County, at a remote village in Ikutha district, the killer liquid claimed six people, with 19 others luckily treated and discharged. In Kiambu, 11 people, among them three members of the same family, died after consuming a highly toxic illicit brew. About 30 people are believed to have consumed the liquor at Kiawamwaki farm in Tigoni.

In Makueni, 12 people died in Kitise Ward, after consuming another potent brew.

Holy Mary!
