Dalmas tells Raila they both have ‘equal chances’ to be President 2017

Dalmas tells Raila they both have ‘equal chances’ to be President 2017

March 31, 2014

Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno, who is also president Uhuru Kenyatta’s special envoy to the troubled South Sudan, has openly indicated he will be on the ballot come 2017. However, the icing is on the rider: he will settle for the deputy of another preferred candidate.

Dalmas also publicly declared there is a new party in the offing, which will be launched soon. Already, the party has been nicknamed ‘kalausi’, the Luo reference to a stormy whirlwind.

“I will be in the top seat at the ballot in the next election in a party that we will make known soon. The party is coming and the whirlwind that is being speculated is just a baptismal name that is on the tipping,” said Dalmas while addressing hundreds of constituents in his Rongo backyard.

“I stand the same chances of Raila becoming the president in 2017, and if I lose he will also lose out,” he added.

Dalmas accused Raila of discrimination, saying the people of South Nyanza have always gotten a raw deal in ODM. Dalmas also revealed that Raila had preferred Mombasa Senator Ali Hassan Joho to take over the chairmanship of ODM even though he (Dalmas) had been instrumental in the formation of CORD.

The Rongo MP has already declared his support for the former Migori Governor Zachary Obado of PDP against ODM’s yet to be unveiled candidate.
