Court to rule on petition seeking to dismiss election of Migori Governor

March 28, 2014

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kisumu will today rule on the election petition case seeking to overturn the victory of Migori Governor Zachary Okoth Obado.

Governor Obado, the only governor in Luo Nyanza elected in a party other than ODM, will today know his fate after a petition lodged by then ODM candidate Prof Edward Akong’o Oyugi comes for judgement this morning.

Last year, a high court sitting in Homa bay dismissed the petition and confirmed Gov Obado as duly elected, prompting the elections loser, Prof Akong’o, to move to a higher court.

Gov. Obado was elected on a PDP ticket, a party associated with former assistant minister Omingo Magara who has since crossed over to the Jubilee side.
