The motion by Hon Ababu Namwamba that seeks to cut salaries of state officers incuding President and MPs by 50% will not be debated in the floor of the house.
National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi has rejected the motion saying its populis, unrealistic and only meant to excite teachers
Hon Muturi noted that it is not the role of MPs to avails funds for salary hike for civil servants as proposed by Hon Namwamba, he instead clarified that it is the work of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission to review salaries of public servants including those of the striking teachers
Hon Muturi was addressing Media after launchingthe centre for Parliamentary studies in Karen, Nairobi.
Speaker Muturi is a close ally of president Uhuru Kenyatta, he is from Jubilee alliance.
