With loads of personal regrets, Professor Kivutha Kibwana has said he will resign as governor of Makueni county after he failed to reach a consensus with county assembly representatives over the use of county funds.
The good governor, a prof of law, a long time second liberation strongman does cannot keep up with small gluttonous politicians keen on wasting public funds. The good Professor has THREATENED to resign!
Here is what the governor posted on the Makueni County Facebook page from his hospital bed where he is treated for high blood pressure:
“I actually never told you that over the last three days I have been hospitalized with a bit of high blood pressure and stress.
After trying to see whether the MCAs can come halfway to 554 ie between our 484 M and their 624 M they have said they will only accept 601 M.
And yet if their salaries & allowances are 127 M , they only need an extra amount for their extra operations and that of their staff.
My negotiations have reached a dead end.
And yet I know 117 M can be released from the proposed budget of the MCAs to cater for the people’s development.
The Executive gave up the 2013/2014 budget for construction of governors house and executive office.
I have realized that I cannot effectively respond to what I perceive to be county assembly insensitivity to the people’s development agenda.
Finally it is the county assembly that passes laws. I have decided that I am not able to be of help to the people of Makueni in this matter.
After I leave hospital, I will tomorrow offer a letter of resignation as governor of Makueni County Government.
I thank you for the privilege of serving you since March 27th 2013. If the development money which has begun to trickle since September is taken care of, it will still prosper our county. God bless Makueni”.
Well, let’s leave it till it happens, then we can write and talk about it. Remember, a day in politics is a very long time, it may not happen.
