Thousands of Mombasa residents have kept off president Uhuru’s Tonoka rally, however organisers have done super job of transporting hired crowds from as far as Tana River, Kilifi and Kwale.
Meanwhile Makupa Police Station OCS cancelled a parallel rally that had been organised by the local ODM officials, the OCS said they will not allow the Mvita rally to proceed due to logistical hitch (orders from above). Area MP Hon Abdulasamada Sharif Nassir condemned the cancelled saying there was no justifiable reason.
Statehouse operatives led by Parliament majority leader Hon Aden Duale spend better part of yesterday (Saturday) talking to Governor Hassan Joho to stand down the Mvita rally with a promise that the Uhuru rally speakers will not make utterances attacking Raila and Joho. Hon Duale is reported to have begged Joho to allow the Tononoka rally to progress without any parallel deflection.
Meanwhile Tana River Governor Hussein Dado and Women Rep Hon Halima Ware have joined Jubilee. They were received by Uhuru and DP Ruto in Statehouse Mombasa, the move leaves Hon Danson Mungatana hanging up dry in an anticipated free fall to a very hard ground. Governor Dadoo was President Moi’s favourite District Commissioner and served in Baringo for a long time. His defection will most likely complicate his re-election since majority locals are largely ODM supporters.
