After making changes in the three main CORD parties ODM, Wiper and Ford Kenya, CORD has moved on to shuffled the top management organ of the coalition after the summit – Management Board/Committee.
Senators James Orengo and Johnstone Muthama have replaced Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno and Kitui Senator David Musila in the management committee as the opposition coalition begins to set its campaign machine rolling.
Dalmas had mid last year indicated he has quit ODM and formed ‘Kalausi’ party then made a U-turn and started attending ODM and CORD meetings.
However, the coalition relieved him of the responsibilities of steering CORD management committee which is tasked with ensuring the decisions of the opposition alliance are implemented.
Dalmas is seen as a mole and  credible sources claim he used to leak CORD strategies directly to President Uhuru.
While the Rongo MP had shown his desire to mend fences with ODM ahead of 2017, his demotion is the clearest indication that the party is not banking on him for the future. Several aspirants in Rongo also claim Dalmas only uses ODM to get to parliament and Raila should this time not give him certificate.
“Dalmas has been the biggest beneficiary of ‘big man syndrome in ODM. He projects himself as too important for the party and infallible. Let him prepare for 2017,” said a youthful aspirant for the Rongo seat.
Senator Orengo and his Machakos counterpart have been consistent backers of the two ODM principals especially Raila Odinga to whom both have declared they will support for the 2017 race. The two have for long been the face of CORD in the senate, and have recently been joined by maverick Kakamega senator Bony Khalwale.
When reached for comment, Suna East MP Junnet Mohammed, a close Raila ally, said he is aware certain changes have been made at the top CORD organ but refused to divulge more details.
