ODM Party supporters can now sigh with relief after Caroli Omondi opted to remain within the party after being denied the party’s ticket. Caroli, who was a leading candidate for Homa Bay senate seat, made the wise decision even as other contestants shopped for other fringe parties to finish the race.
In a media release, Caroli reiterated his support for ODM, urging the party rank and file to count on his ‘support and services’ to the party ahead of 2017.
Caroli also indicates he will make a comeback come 2017, only two years away. This decision has shored up the support of the man locals have already christened ‘Dangote’, because of his deep pockets. Below is the presser:
First and foremost, may i express my sincere gratitude to the ODM Delegates, elders, political and professional leaders of Homa-Bay county for their strong support to me as a candidate for senate. The delegates conference was violently disrupted to deny the people of Homa-Bay county the opportunity to freely nominate their senator.A repeat of the nominations was equally denied and nomination by universal suffrage stopped at the eleventh Hour for the same reason:that the processes would produce a people’s candidate other than the one preferred by the party top leadership.Going forward,my membership in,and historical support to ODM will continue. The party rank and file should count on my support and services to the party in the period ahead as we work towards 2017.
