The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set a date for the repeat presidential election as ordered by the Supreme Court on Friday last week.

According to IEBC, the repeat exercise will be carried out on October 17, 2017.

IEBC also indicated that only President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga will be on the ballot.

The sudden announcement will be as expected be received well by NASA who have indicated they are more than ready polls. Other sources indicate that NASA were for a roundtable meeting with IEBC and the two coalitions to decide on the way forward since IEBC seem not ready to conduct an election given the several cases of malpractice in the August 8th polls.

For Jubilee, the sooner the election is held the better for they will want to exploit the weakness that are in place within IEBC. It is widely rumoured that Ezra Chiloba has very close connection to statehouse and that the he was the linkman with Jubilee in facilitating electoral fraud.
