Literary icon and former Assistant Minister Grace Ogot has passed on.
Grace, wife to former Moi University Chancellor and prolific historian Prof Bethwel Ogot, had been battling what is believed to be cancer until she succumbed earlier today.
A powerful politician in the 80s and 90s, Ms Ogot would serve as the only woman minister (though she was an assistant minister) in the Moi regime of between 1984 to 1988. She bequeaths the country with several literary texts, the best known being ‘The Promised Land’ and ‘Land Without Thunder’.
Gem Mp Jakoyo Midiwo has sent his condolences.
