CORD takes note of the ruling of Justice Abuodha of the Industrial Court ordering teachers to suspend their strike for 90 days pending negotiations between the Unions and the Teachers Service Commission on the way to implement the award granted by the court for increment of salaries.
CORD also takes note of the statements issued by both KNUT and KUPPET that they are studying the ruling of the court and will soon announce their position on the ruling of Justice Abuodha.
Pending the decision of the unions on the court directions and Inorder not to prejudice any decision they may reach on further action in respect of the said court directions, CORD has decided to suspend the intended “Occupy Harambee Avenue” until the court issues directions on Thursday and the consequent actions that the Unions may deem fit and justifiable.
CORD wishes to assure all the teachers in Kenya that CORD remains in solidarity with their demands and will resume all intended actions should their unions decide to resume agitation for implementation of their award.
