Residents of Kibra in Nairobi today handed in their signed Okoa Kenya booklets as the deadline the CORD coalition has set to receive all the books nears.
At hand to receive the books was ODM Party leader Raila Amolo Odinga accompanied by Okoa Kenya Committee of Experts Chair Paul Mwangi and a host of MPs and MCAs.
The Okoa Kenya collection in Kibra was being spearheaded by ODM supporter Eliud Owalo who was also present to witness the handing over of the books.
ODM Leader Raila Odinga visited several locations within the  constituency, urging residents to keep support the initiative even as Okoa Kenya secretariat verifies the signatures. Odinga explained campaigns for the referendum is yet to begin as the signatures will have to go to IEBC before the coalition again takes over the task of convincing kenyans that the changes being proposed will better serve them.
Odinga also visited the slum upgrade projects which is nearing completion. The project, started during his tenure as area member of parliament has seen several modern low cost houses built which will alleviate the housing and sanitation crisis in the slums. The apartments which boasts several floors is expected to be completed before year end to allow residents who were displaced to move in.
Area MP Ken Okoth snubbed the event. Hon Okoth is said to have stopped collection of signatures preferring to work with the Jubilee government.
