Businessman Da Gama Rose, whose over 100 acres of land in Nairobi was last week fraudulently grabbed by over 40 Jubilee Alliance lawmakers in what is probably the most daring land grabbing orgy under Uhuru regime was today attacked by rowdy youths within the precepts of Milimani Law Courts where the case was to be mentioned today.
Of course, this sets a bad precedent, as court environment becomes the worst place to be.
The youths, allegedly hired by a section of the legislators, attacked the ailing businessman who had just returned from hospitalization in London to fight for his property.
The divisions emerging from the controversial land, where the lands Ministry and the National Land Commission are providing different persons to be the true owner of the land have also deepened the mystery surrounding the prime land.
One of the persons named as part of the grabbers is a governor, with sources alleging that said governor is Nairobi’s Dr. Evans Kidero.
Already, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko seeks to get enjoined in the suit claiming he represents a widow, Mrs Carmelina Ngami Mburu, who also lays claim to the prime land measured at Ksh 8 billion.
Ministry of Lands claims the true owner of the land is Jos Konzolo, former NSSF trustee; while the National Land Commission says the parcel belongs to businessman and lawyer, Da Gama Rose.
It is unknown whom the youths were acting for, however, the fact that they attacked Mr. Da Gama within the precepts of a court of law really should be condemned.
Chief Justice Dr. Willy Mutunga is yet to comment on the incident.
