One of Jubilee Alliance after-USA tour propaganda was that it had secured the commitment of Delta Airlines, one of America’s largest carriers, to start direct flights to Kenya as early as November.
However, in an embarrassing rejoinder, the Airline has refuted the claims, saying it didn’t enter into such agreements and has no such plans.
An overdrive government propaganda machine using Kenya’s ”everything-government-says-is-true” media made this particular ‘deal’ with the Americans one of the ‘business opportunities’ that President Uhuru’s trip accrued. Sadly, this particular ‘deal’ – an outrageous lie – was announced by transport cabinet secretary Michael Kamau in press briefing that was also attended by President Uhuru’s head of public service Joseph Kinyua.
Delta in 2009 postponed indefinitely a plan to start direct flights between Atlanta and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, via Senegal, after the U.S. government refused permission at the last minute over security concerns.
