Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba’s team of ODM young turks known popularly as ‘Team Fresh’ are currently attending a church service at Bishop Margaret Wanjiru’s Jesus Is Alive Ministries Church in Nairobi where  ‘thanksgiving to God’ for the nullification of the fraudulent election of George Gichohi as Mathare Constituency MP will be conducted today.
Ababu is accompanied by Kibra MP Ken Okoth, former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo and Rozah Buyu.
The MP is said to have chatted with ODM leader Raila Odinga currently in the USA who sent him with his message to the ODM electorates facing a by election in Nairobi’s Mathare constituency.
The son to Bishop Wanjiru, Stephen Kariuki, won a petition against TNA’s Wanjohi last week at the appellate court. Kariuki who had contested the Mathare seat on an ODM ticket in 2013 elections and was briefly awarded a certificate was denied his victory when a few days later IEBC issued the TNA side another certificate and revoked the one he had been given, prompting a court battle that proceeded to the Appeals Court.
According to a source close to Team Fresh, Raila is said to be keen in having the team lead the Nairobi by election which observers say will be a do or die for either side of the political divide as the result will heighten the rhetorics on 2017.
TNA and the Jubilee Alliance are said to have called a meeting to strategise on the Mathare seat which losing will show President Uhuru Kenyatta’s waning grip of city electorates. In the 2013 elections, President Kenyatta lost the constituency to the CORD leader.
