THE CEO of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund Board Juma Mwatata was yesterday charged with abuse of office in a Nairobi court.
He is accused of commissioning 1,050 hatching machines worth Sh208 million without the approval of the board.
Mwatata denied three counts before senior principal magistrate Lawrence Mugambi.
The court heard that on or about August 16, 2012, at the YEDFB offices in Nairobi, Mwatata violated management of public funds laws.
He is accused of signing a contract with Comnet Technologies for the supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of the hatching machines.
Prosecutor Fredrick Ashimosi told the court 25 witnesses will testify.
He said the prosecution is not opposed to bail application by the defence as police have completed investigations.
Mwatata was released on Sh2 million bail or Sh5 million bond pending the mention on June 2.
