The conman who defrauded a MurangÃ¡ family about Kshs 3 million meant to airlift baby Fidelis Muthoni to Canada for specialist treatment has been arrested. In a Facebook post with photos of the conman, a volunteer Ndugu Nyoro has confirmed that Wanjau is now in custody of the police and the CID will be taking him to court by Monday morning.

A family in Murangâ€™a county has been left distraught after a man who was assisting it to collect funds for the treatment of their child’s head condition disappeared with the money.
The Murang’a family of Fidelis Muthoni, 15, who has a bone defect medically known asÂ frontal Encephalocele Â cannot trace Benson Wanjau who posed as having an NGO assisting disabled children. Wanjau is said to run Hope Foundation and is from Kikuyu area of Kiambu county.
Wanjau agreed to open a bank account in the girl’s name as a pay bill number-317081 – was also set up. According to Safaricom, some Ksh 2.8 million was deposited in the paybill number by well-wishers.
Sadly, days to airlifting the girl to receive treatment in Canada, Wanjau withdrew all the money and has now disappeared.Police have begun manhunt for Wanjau.
