Controversial doctor Mugo wa Wairimu on Friday October 2 was charged with 12 counts including one on rape, operating clinics illegally and masquerading as a gynaecologist.
A request to release Mugo who has been a State guest since September 11 was also denied.
His bail will now be determined on Monday October 5.
He has been accused of allegedly sedating and raping a woman in one of his clinics and another case of operating clinics without licenses is pending determination at the Makadara law courts.
Mugo’s story raised a lot of public interest after Citizen TV aired a video footage apparently showing the man sedating and proceeding to have sex with a patient.
He was suspected to have raped more than one patient at his Prestige Healthcare clinics in Githurai 44 and Zimmerman residential areas in Nairobi after sedating them.
This led one of his staffers to secretly record a 20-minute video clip of the on goings behind closed doors.
Mugo wa Wairimu has maintained his innocence despite the said video evidence.
Earlier reports had indicated that Mugo may not face charges after one of the investigating officers claimed there was no enough evidence to sustain a case against him.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board had accused the University of Nairobi graduate of negligence and putting Kenyans and their health at risk.
