The Diaspora will not be the same again! A Kenyan in diaspora, mukurima Muriuki, has launched a Diaspora magazine called IDEA DIASPORA magazine. The online bi-monthly magazine is also available in print copy to those who would want to buy.
Muriuki is holds a MA in Negotiations, Conflict Resolution and Peace Building from the USA, he is a brand name on social medial especially for his sober debate devoid of tribal hate a common thing with most Kenyans online.
Speaking to Kenya Today, Mukurima noted that the idea was borne out of his master’s thesis which was on the role of Kenyans in diaspora in the development agenda in the motherland.
“After talking to many Kenyans in diaspora during my data collection, I realized that our story is never told. What we have out there are myths and half-truths about life in diaspora. Yes it can be challenging and so can it be worth the hustle. But we need to tell all these perspectives and this is what IDEA magazine aims to do-Inform, Develop, Educate Africans on life abroad.” Mukurima told this writer.
The magazine offers highlights about life in the diaspora, opportunities available in diaspora including in education, careers and other avenues that those in the motherland can learn about and take advantage of.
“Above all, we want to have a conversation as Kenyans in diaspora” Mukurima added.
