Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is a man on the spot with recent events at City Hall causing jitters across the country.
Sonko for the last two weeks has held high profile meetings with former President Raila Odinga, former President Mwai Kibaki, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula among other national leaders.
Speaking after meeting Sonko, Kalonzo endorsed the governor for a second term due to his “hands on” approach on issues. Kalonzo also predicted that Sonko might one day lead this country if he continues with his good work.
The Sonko’s “handshakes” have made headlines across all media houses apart from outlets owned by Nation Media Group who have declared total war against Sonko after Nairobi County overlooked the media house in the recent advertisement of a documentary on the county’s development plan.
The flamboyant governor who has laid down several development projects in Nairobi is currently facing heavy criticism from NMG after the media group published a series of “high voltage” criticism against Sonko in what experts described as blackmail against the governor.
