I am filthy rich, started my company at age 19 and never interested in county funds- Gov. Mutua

Date:

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has dismissed claims from a section of leaders who want Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission to raid his business empire.

Former Senator Johnstone Muthama on Monday accused Dr Mutua of grand theft, insisting that he should be among governors who should be out of office.

EACC has stemmed the fight against corruption, with Governor Ferdinand Waititu of Kiambu being the latest casualty in the ongoing crackdown.

But in a rejoinder on Tuesday, Mutua said that he is satisfied with what he gets both as governor and an investor, who has been in business for ages.

According to him, he started investigating as a young man and went on to make a lot during his time as Director Cobra Squad creative team.

“All these allegations started with Muthama … that I bought vehicles … these people are thick … I bought vehicles at a low price just to be able to purchase ambulances,” he said.

“I started my own company at the age of 19 … I formed a company then left the country. When I came back I started Cobra Squad, whose first series earned me Sh25million and the next one Sh11million,” he said.

Mutua said he invested in apartments and has two choppers used in the aviation industry. He has also invested in various organizations abroad.

The second term governor is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 and recently said that he will form coalition with like minded people.
